SENIOR RESULTS

1st Grade
Twomey Schriber Rovers v Atherton BV Hotel – Won
We traveled up the hill on Saturday to take on a strong Atherton lineup. Atherton batted first on what was a flat deck and lightning outfield. Tommy King playing his first A Grade 40 Over game took a couple of early wickets while Seth McGinty took 3 crucial wickets through the middle with Atherton posting 168. Contributions from Ryan Terry (32), Andrew Phelps (49), and a quick-fire half century from Bobby Brix saw us chase down the total with 6 overs to spare. Congratulations lads, outstanding effort from all 11 players.

2nd Grade
Red Beret Hotel Rovers v Atherton Sunset Ridge – Lost
The mighty two’s travelled to Atherton hoping to keep the winning momentum. Atherton won the toss and elected to bat. An unusually sluggish performance with the ball saw Atherton get off to a flyer before Shane Kennedy brought us back into the game with 2 wickets – the second from a fabulous catch for skipper Aaron Lock. Our bowling and fielding improved in the second 20 overs with Rob Thresher finishing with 3-39 from his 8  but Atherton found their way to 208 on a lighting fast outfield.Dayne (21) and evergreen Pete Ferguson (37) made a solid start to our response, and our middle order scrambled with evergreen 2nd stalwart Graham Dutton blasting 55 with 10 4’s and an enormous 6 and captain courageous Aaron Lock belting 37 from 30 but despite the gutsy effort throughout the innings we fell a little short with 196. A tough loss for the mighty 2’s but with a few little tune ups no doubt we will be back in the winners circle soon.

3rd Grade
FGF Development Rovers v Mareeba Bandits 3rds – Won
3 in a row thanks to a complete team effort. Bowling first we bowled Mareeba out for 133. Archie Ferguson and Dbas Bhandari both getting 3 wickets each. We chased the total down comfortably with Dbas Bhandari , Dayne Margiotta and Rodney Stradford sharing the runs to get us home.It really was a good team performance with great attitude in all a well Deserved Win!

JUNIOR RESULTS – TIER 1

Tier 1Rovers Red v Rovers GoldTier 1 Rovers Gold v Rovers Red. This week saw another great battle between Rover Teams. Rovers Gold won the toss and elected to field. Gold bowled and fielded extremely well, taking 11 wickets and restricting Red to 83 runs. Kitty once again tore through the opposition batters, taking 3/7. Jacob 2/17, Ethan 2/12 and Jackson 2/11 were also amongst the wickets. Ethan and Daniel got Gold off to a flyer with both opening batters scoring 18 runs each. Jacob hit 17 runs and Finn finished the innings off with a blistering 28 runs to seal the victory. Gold finished on 101 with the loss of only 4 wickets. Well played to both teams. Players of the match for Gold were Ethan and Jacob.Player awards for rovers redbacks were our captain today Riley (22 and 2 for 10) and RT (17 and some great wicket keeping).

Tier 1Rovers Green v BRCC Tier 1 RedTier 1 Rovers Green played Barron Red.  Barron Red won the toss and set Rovers Green into bat.  Blake and Javier opened the batting and established a solid opening partnership, which set the platform for a competitive 110.  Alex (31) and Javier (20) were the leading run scorers for the innings.   Rovers Green then bowled tightly, restricting Barron Red to 88 and taking 5 wickets in the process.   In a consistent team bowling performance, Javier led the way with 1 for 7 off two overs, and Zac kept it tight, conceding just the 4 runs off his 3 overs.  The players of the match for Rovers Green were Alex and Zac.

JUNIOR RESULTS – TIER 2

Tier 2Rovers Green v BRCC Tier 2 Blue – WonThis week saw the green machines travel to Smithfield to face Barron River Blue.  Winning the toss we chose to bat first.  Thomas (29) and Caleb (30) got us off to a great start scoring the runs with Hugh coming in down the order to score 71 off his 30 balls. Posting a final score of 201. After some yummy afternoon tea by the Wheeler family, the boys were ready to take some wickets.  Cameron opened the bowling and was unlucky not to get a wicket with many balls only just missing the wickets. He had 2 overs, 1 maiden, 0-3 and put the pressure on Barron. Some more great bowling by Caleb 2-7, Brodie 1-7, Carter 1-11 and Joash who got his first wicket of the year 1-7, saw us bowl Barron out for 60 runs.  Players of the match are Cameron, Brodie, Thomas and Hugh.

Tier 2Rovers Gold v BRCC Tier 2 red – LostBarron Red won the toss and elected to bat first. Elijah was able to get an early breakthrough but from then on, the Barron boys put on a clinic.  Barron finished with a score of 5/235 and were definitely a class above. Best bowlers for Rovers Gold were – Elijah 3/25, Luca 1/24 and Rocco 1/3.  Luca got us off to a flying start with 20 off 11 with the bat, but from then on Barron were too good rampaging through our batting order. Our very last partnership managed to keep Barron’s powerades on ice, with a very resilient partnership of Elijah and Riley lasting 63 balls and 43 balls respectively sneaking our way up to a total of 93.  Barron too big and too strong controlling the game throughout.  Players of the day went to Elijah and Riley.

Tier 2Rovers Red V Norths U13 Girls – Won
Rovers red climbed a mountain on the weekend, rolling the norths girls for 87. The wickets were shared around across most players who owe six of those wickets to the superb catching display put on by their fielders.  A solid opening partnership got our run chase off to a great start before our lower came in and finished the game off.  Players of the match were Oscar, Hayden and Cooper.

JUNIOR RESULTS – TIER 3

Tier 3
Halpin Partners Rovers v Mareeba Bandits T3 – Won

Win against Mareeba Bandits.  We lost the toss and were sent into bowl.  We had Mareeba all out for 45 with Taj taking 2 wickets, Jackson taking 3 wickets and Cody with the bowling of the day taking a hat trick with all 3 bowled. Then it was time for us to bat with Cody and Ian making our winning runs with 1 for 48 on the 9th over.  We played out the overs with our unofficial total 4/182 with every single team member making a great contribution to the team. With our high scores Cody 52 off 52, Ian 49 off 66 and Cooper 38 off 26. With Cody, Jackson and Ian  taking out the awards for best players this week. Thanks to Jarred and Mark for umpiring.
