Rovers won the flip and decided to field first and supported that decision with some tight bowling and fielding to back it up. Cooper L with 2-7 ,Kitty 1-5 and Johno 1-9 being the pick of the bowlers.
Our turn to bat a we got off to a good start with Cooper L and Brad setting up the innings.
Solid in the middle with Bria , Kitty, refusing to give away their wickets and Teddy running like his on his way to the olympics , Johno again reaching double figures and a huge innings from Isaak got us home.
Top scorers
Cooper L 23 off 17 balls
Isaac 43 off 17 balls.
Unfortunately our game on turf was called off due to bad weather but the kids got to play an indoor game so all was not lost. A fun time was had by all!
With some co-operation from both teams, we were able to cheat the weather and get an 18 over a side game in. Captain Jacob lost the toss and we were sent in to bat in slippery conditions. Xander (15) and Jacob (12) ran superbly between the wickets to give us some good early momentum. Both Ryan and Aadit found the boundary late in the innings to give us a competitive score.
When it was our turn to bowl we took an incredible 11 wickets with Ryan (4-4) and Dexter (3-2) leading the way. Great late catches from Shenuka and Aadit ensured the pleasing win for the Redbacks – a match where all players made a great contribution.
Some play but eventually washed out – Match drawn
Saturday game against Norths was a wash out. However praying for sunshine, we had a catch up game on Sunday vs Port Douglas.
Losing the toss we were sent into bat in tough conditions with rain around and a wet field.
Toby, Caleb and Carter got us off to a good start rotating the strike as boundaries were hard to come by.
We batted great with 6 players all retiring and were able to get a total of 99 after 30 overs.
After some burgers and afternoon tea it was our turn to bowl/field.
With some amazing bowling from our openers, Joash 3 for 7 off 2 over and Alex I 1 for 2 off 2 overs, we had Muddies 4 wickets down after 4 overs and the momentum was on our side.
Great bowling from the whole team saw us bowl Port Douglas out for 49 and a win by 50 runs.
A great all round team win.
A big thanks to Cooper, Eli and Jacob for filling in for Port Douglas and all playing well.
Players of the match go to Joash, Alex I, Carter, Cooper, Eli and Jacob.
Well done green machines!!
Rovers won the toss and, with the clouds clearing, decided to field first. Wickets were hard to come by, and Neil 1/13, Finn 1/13, Elijah 1/15 and Ashton 1/16 were the best of the bowlers. Neil was outstanding in the field, taking two great catches and a direct hit run out. Hugh and Rocco set a great platform for the team with both openers retiring. Some accurate bowling, however, tied our batters down, and we were never able to get any momentum with wickets falling regularly. Hugh 25*, Rocco 8 and Ashton 7 were the best bats. Was good to see how positive the boys remained the whole game. Hugh and Neil picked up player of the match awards.
Washed out
Winning the toss and bowling first, we picked up wickets regularly and fielded well considering the slippery conditions. Some wayward bowling with wet ball was costly though and Barron finished on 132. Blake was economical finishing with 1/10 off 6 overs, Mungus 2/8 off 3 overs and Bikrem 1/9 off 3 overs the best of the bowlers. Special mention to Lucas for picking up a wicket, and for throwing down the stumps with a sensational direct hit run out from the outfield. Runs were hard to come by with the bat, and 4 run outs killed any momentum. Locky 31 and Blake 16 were the only batters to get a start and earned them player of the match awards. Big shout out to Kael for filling in as coach!!!!

The sun appeared on Sunday afternoon to allow the mighty 2s to topple Mulgrave.
We lost the toss but that may have been a blessing in disguise as our hungry bowlers feasted early. Tommy King (3-21) was determined to leave no toad toe unbruised whilst Langers (2-25) continued to show maturity beyond his years with another consistent spell.
Presty provided his own version of the Alex Carey / Johnny Bairstow “stumping” before Skipper Sauce (3-11) produced 38 different kinds of slower balls and completely bamboozled our opponents.
A fast start from Dayne and Chaddy ensured there were no real jitters in our chase. Chaddy produced a typically classy 63 not out as we reached our victory target after 20 overs.
A great team performance from the 2s which sees us solidify our spot in the top 2.
