It’s with great excitement that Active performance Physiotherapy is partnering with Rover’s cricket club. SENIOR RESULTS

1st Grade
Twomey Schriber Rovers v Mulgrave – LOST
Rovers played Mulgrave at Walker Rd. Rovers won the toss and chose to bat. We started well being 2/75 at drinks but unfortunately a bottom order collapse meant that we only reached 150 all out. Marcus Berryman leading the way with 71*. Mulgrave started off to a flier but we were able to take a couple of quick wickets and put some pressure on their middle order. Brenton Edwards, Henry King and Robert Thresher all taking 2 wickets each. Mulgrave were able to get the runs with 4 wickets in hand. We take on Norths next week back at home.

2nd Grade

Red Beret Hotel Rovers v Mulgrave – WON
Rovers 157 def Mulgrave 110.

We headed to Edmonton for a crucial game against top of the table Mulgrave. We were sent in to bat and whilst we got plenty of starts, no one really went on with it (Dutto 32, Tom the Pom 20, Henry King 19).

We felt we were about 30 runs under par and would need a good start with the ball. Up stepped our young guns Harry Halpin and Tommy King with crucial early wickets decimating Mulgrave to 4 for 24. Tommy King was like a tracer-bullet chasing LBWs as he took 4 for not many (again) and staked his claim for “King of the North”. Mulgrave developed a partnership in the middle overs and looked to be working themselves back into the game until some tight bowling from skipper Aaron and Tom the Pom (2 for) ensured the toad uprising was quashed. Presty capped off a great win for the 2s with a neat run out as a valuable away win was secured.

3rd Grade
FGF Development Rovers v Mulgrave – WON
3rds back with a bang with a dominant Win over Mulgrave. Tommy King had an Outstanding Match with 32 & 4/6 which included 5 Maidens in his 7 Overs. Rhys Thomas hit a good 38 whilst Spill looked liked Glenn Maxwell with 28. Dbas fielding efforts was sensational with 2 run outs whilst Hodgey bowled tight. Andy Lamborn casually finished the game with a classic one handed catch . Great team effort once again.

JUNIOR RESULTS – TIER 1

Tier 1
Rovers Red v BRCC Red
Rovers Red (130) lost to Barron Red (131). We had a great game against Barron today which resulted in a very close loss for the Redbacks. Captain Jacob won the toss and elected to bowl.  The highlight of the innings was not 1, but 2 direct hit run outs from Riley whilst Reuben got a wicket too.  131 looked like a tough chase but we put in our best effort with the bat losing only 2 wickets as everyone contributed well.  The decision for our non-batting players to run a lap for each 4 hit as a show of support back-fired and led to plenty of running in the later overs as Lewis (19) and Riley (23) set to work but alas we fell just short.  Great effort Red-Backs!

Our team awards went to debutant keeper Aadit and Riley.

Tier 1
Rovers Gold v 7 Gold Norths Omega Technologies
Rovers Gold 135 v Norths Gold 116 Win. Norths won the toss and sent us in to bat. Rovers batted solidly, only losing 7 wickets along the way, which was a resilient effort against some quality fast bowling from Norths. Top batters were Jake 24, Jacob 21, and Daniel 13. Our bowling and fielding was next level. Jacob and Daniel both took screamers in the outfield that would have made Mark Waugh proud!!!! Some excellent bowling from Finn 4/7 off 2 overs, Cian with a wicket maiden 2/8 and Jake 2/16 saw us across the line for an awesome win. Players of the match Jake, Daniel, and Jacob.

Tier 1
Rovers Green v BRCC Blue
Eamon was our captain today, we lost the bat flip and were sent in to bat.
The boys battled hard against some fast Barron River bowling and made 82 runs. Unfortunately we also lost 10 wickets. So out we came to bowl and the boys fired up to have Barron 6 wickets down at the 10 over mark and be well and truly in the game. Although we tried our best after the drinks break we weren’t able to break through for any more wickets and ultimately Barron went on to score 6/126 and secure the victory Our awards this week went to Javier for his 19 runs and bowling figures of 1 for 18 and coaches award to Eamon for his wicket keeping and showing toughness with the bat when he was hit hard in the leg but still managed to bat out his allotted balls.

JUNIOR RESULTS – TIER 2

Tier 2
Rovers Green v Rovers Gold

Rovers gold won the toss and went into bat.
Nate, Luca and Lucas got the top order off to a flyer, all retiring after their 25 balls and putting on the pressure to the green bowlers. With a goal to bat out their 30 overs they did this easily with 6 of their batters retiring. Total 4-122.
With the target set Green went into bat and put in some solid batting Cameron 38no, Caleb 37no along with many other contributions by the team. Green was able to chase down the total and finish the day 7-224.
A fantastic game by both teams and great to see everyone improving and supporting each other regardless of which team.  We are one Club and that showed on Saturday.
Players of the match were:
Gold – Nate 14no, Will 17no 1/11, Jacob 7no 2/23 Green – Thomas 30no, Ethan 1/4 off 3 overs, Ben 2/13 off 3overs.
Shout out to the Tier 1 players Ethan, Ben and Jacob who all had fantastic games in their first ever tier 2 match.

Tier 2
Rovers Red v Atherton
Rovers won the toss and elected to bowl. Some excellent bowling saw wickets regularly fall with Atherton eventually bowled out in the 28th over for 225. Bowling honours went to Sean ( 2/9 off three overs).  The Redmen then managed to bat out the overs and once again post a decent total of 125. Top scorer was Henry with 33 (52).  Players of the match were Sean, Henry and Zac.

JUNIOR RESULTS – TIER 3

Tier 3
Super Global Services Rovers  v Mulgrave

T3 Rover Super Global took on Mulgrave at Walker Oval. Rovers batted first and scored and impressive 6-205 runs in 30 overs with Archie and Will batting really well making 54 and 48 respectively. In reply Rovers bowled really tightly conceding just 5 extra in the Mulgrave reply of 7-76 in their 30 overs. Blake was the pick of the bowlers with 3-3 in his 3 overs, breaking the back of the Mulgrave reply. Payers awards went Luca for tight bowling and Archie for his 54no.

Tier 3
Halpin Partners Rovers  v JMC Cassowary Coast Cyclones
Win against Cassowary Coast   Cyclones.
We loss the toss and were sent to bowl first. Tully making 7/151 with our bowlers and fielders doing a great job keeping it tight with a very fast field on a very hot day. Our best bowlers Brodie taking 3/15 and Jack with 2/11. With our target set the boys battered very well with winning the game on the 31 over with 6/157 with our best batters Taj Walker not out on 51 off 82 and Cooper making 38 off 39. With every single team member making a great contribution to our Win. Big thanks to Brodie and Ben for helping us out today and a big shout out to our umpires Jarred, Mark and Bernard. Our awards for the day going to Brodie , Taj and Cooper. Thanks to all our parents for making the trip to Tully they are big days but very worth it.
