TWOMEY SCHRIBER PROPERTY GROUP 1ST GRADE
Rovers 9-82 lost to Mulgrave 6-220
RED BERET 2ND GRADE
The mighty 2s went down by three runs to the Spicy Bites in an epic battle at GP.
Bowling first Ian (1/25) and Rob (3/20) set the tone early bowling tight lines on a generally good batting pitch. Tommy “cramps” King chipped in with a classy run out and Tadhg (2/8) saw the Spicy Bites in some bother at 6 for 60.
However a good fight from their tail (which included some of their best bats) saw them rally to reach 147.
Unfortunately our reply started slowly. Tight bowling saw our top order struggle to tick the scoreboard over.
Archie (40) and Tommy (20) got things moving before a cameo from Jack (16) had us right back in the game. Needing 6 an over Sykes (17*) and Northy (11*) did their best but it was not to be with our innings ending at 6/144.
A great effort and learning experience for the seven juniors carrying the load today. Special thanks to Kyle for being 12th man (and keeping 20 overs) and the many Rovers parents and players that came down to support.
FGF DEVELOPMENTS 3RD GRADE
Rovers 134 v Mulgrave 8-135, Mulgrave won by 2 wickets.
3RD GRADE BHUTANESE ROVERS
Rovers 9-68 lost to Norths 71, Norths won by 3 runs.
HALPIN PARTNERS COLTS (CPL)
Halpin Partners Rovers Colt 63 lost to Mulgrave Colts 6-65
It was great to be back in the Colts saddle after a long mid-season break.
We won the toss at Turf 2, Walker Road, and chose to bat.
Our openers failed to get a start, falling to good bowling and an undulating, slow wicket.
Taj Walker 17 off 54 balls managed to steady the ship, laying a small foundation for our innings. Unfortunately, we were unable to capitalise on that, and wickets fell regularly with no one else able to reach double figures. We posted a meagre 63 for an enthusiastic Mulgrave batting line up to chase.
As has occurred so often this season, Blake Watson rose to the occasion working hard to achieve 5/13 off 8 overs, his second five-for for the 2025/26. Congratulations Blake. However, although Blake was well supported by Xavier Curtin 1/9 off 5 overs, and with some very tight bowling from all our bowlers (only six extras conceded) and clean glove work from Ben, Mulgrave “played us” with clever tactics batting defensively but slowly building their reply total.
Eventually by the 32nd over Mulgrave managed to fall over the line, securing their first victory over us for the season. This knocked us off the top of the table for the first time, a great “wake up” lesson that will help list us for the balance of the season and serve us well into the finals.
Thanks to Caleb and Carter for backing up from their morning Tier 3 game, both contributing well.
Thanks also to Sanet and Clare for scoring, to Jodi for afternoon tea and to Simon and Dolf for their coaching and umpiring.
We never enjoy a loss, but we will take plenty from it to lift the balance of our season.
Awards went to Blake, Xavier, Taj and Ben.
TIER 3 U18 FNQ NATURE TOURS ROVERS V SGS ROVERS
FNQ Nature Tours Rovers 4-136 defeated Super Global Servcies Rovers 132
The second half of the season kicked off in style with a true club classic as Super Global Services Rovers took on FNQ Nature Tours Rovers at Griffith Park. At times it was hard to tell who was on which team, but one thing was clear – Rovers cricket was alive and well. Even before a ball was bowled it was great to see a sea of green out checking out the pitch and telling each other exactly how it was about to play.
Super Global Services won the toss and chose to bat first, getting off to a solid start before Hayden Bromell struck early, removing two batters and keeping things tight. Enter Thomas and Hugh, who calmly rebuilt the innings with a classy 82-run partnership, showing patience, discipline, and just the right amount of intent. Jack and Wil bowled well and managed to keep things in check throughout the partnership.
Caleb eventually broke through, dismissing Hugh for a well-constructed 34. Thomas, however, wasn’t done. He carried on with maturity beyond his years, crafting a superb 58 and bringing up his second fifty of the season. It was an innings built brick by brick rather than fireworks, and it gave Super Global Services a fighting chance.
Then came Carter. Cometh the hour, cometh the man. Things escalated quickly.
What followed can only be described as controlled chaos. Carter suddenly found his rhythm and every ball seemed to explode off the pitch. He ripped through the batting lineup like a man late for dinner, finishing with outrageous figures of 6 for 9 off 4.4 overs. Super Global Services were bowled out with eight balls remaining for a total of 132, wondering what on earth had just happened.
FNQ Nature Tours then began their chase with purpose. Travis led the way with a superb season-high 43, batting with confidence and composure. Super Global Services stayed in the contest thanks to some sharp run outs that kept the pressure on, but FNQ Nature Tours were helped along by a steady supply of extras.
Caleb showed great maturity, holding the innings together with an unbeaten 21, and Eli finished the job by striking the winning runs with nine balls to spare.
It was a fantastic contest between two Rovers sides, played in great spirit and showcasing exactly what the club is about. Plenty of standout performances, plenty of lessons learned, and plenty of smiles once the dust settled.
A brilliant way to launch the second half of the season, and proof that no matter which Rovers jersey you’re wearing, the club is in a very good place.
Award winners
FNQ Nature Tours – Trav, Wil and Jack
Super Global Services – Thomas and Riley

TIER 2 U 13 ZARRAFFAS ROVERS
Tier 2 Zarraffa’s Rovers 8–122 defeated Atherton 7–97
Winning the toss, Rovers padded up and took first use of the deck. A few Christmas cobwebs showed early as we lost a couple of quick wickets, but credit to Joe and Kai who dug in, weathered the new-ball spell, and put a solid partnership on the board. Both retired not out and steered the innings back on course. Handy cameos from Andrew, Oliver and Will added some late runs to push us to a competitive total.
With ball in hand, Rovers hit their straps early. Liam and Oliver struck in the opening overs to put Atherton on the back foot, before Joe rolled the arm over and jagged a couple of important breakthroughs. Alex then swapped the keeping gloves for a spell at the bowlers’ mark and didn’t disappoint, joining the wicket-taking party with two of his own as Rovers kept the pressure on and closed out a well-earned win.
TIER 2 U 13 WGC ROVERS
Tier 2 WGC Rovers 6/257 v Mareeba 28.
The Green boys were back to their winning ways with a dominate win over Mareeba. Batting first Mareeba were under the pump from the get go with Jacob snaring a wicket in the first over. Bowling accuracy was the order for the day with the boys sending the pegs flying 7 times to have Mareeba all out in the 17th over. Riley also combined with Aadit to pick up a slick run-out. Jacob 1/2, Oscar 1/2, Ashton 1/1, Aadit 1/0, Charlie 2/0 and Finn 2/3 all amongst the carnage. Isaak, with new stick in hand was rock solid as the opening bat 9* from 25, laying the platform for the bash brother twins, Finn 64 from 45 balls and Ashton 62* from 25 balls to once again flail the bowlers to all parts of the ground.
The resident plovers nest was lucky not to be scrambled eggs by the end of the innings. Charlie 21/12, Aadit 11/14, Ben 10*/23, Oscar 14*/20, Ryan 11/5 all made good contributions with bat. Players of the match went to Charlie, Finn Ashton and Jacob.

AGL PAINTING ROVERS GREEN & CNW ROVERS
AGL Rovers Green 140 def CNW Rovers Red 108.
A great intraclub match to kick off the second half of the season. AGL Rovers were sent in to bat and saw some great contributions from Luca 19 and 13 each from Charlie, Ollie and Kieran after some very tight bowling from the reds. Bowling was impressive today also with Charlie taking 3 wickets and one each from Josh, Henry, Roly and Emmett. A great outfield catch from Henry also topped off the day. Awards went to Ollie and Henry.

ROVERS ARCHERS BODY CORPORATE
Rovers ABC 159 defeat Norths 77
Great way to start 2026 with our young green machines on fire today. We were sent into bat after losing the toss. Openers Oscar & Aaron got us off to a solid start , followed by Cooper H who again had decided that it was too hot to run today so just hit boundaries scoring 26 runs from 11 balls!
Everyone was rock solid putting away the bad balls and keeping the good ones out. Brad hit a quick fire 18 and Ben & Cooper L both strong with 14 each.
Our turn to bowl and again the entire team was on fire. Brianna, Kitty and Johno were so accurate Norths players seemed scared to swing.
Oscar the destroyer talking 2/5 and a fired up Kiani sending bails flying after just missing a run out a few overs before.
Wicket keeper Ben grabbing an amazing over the head catch the entire team refusing to give away any runs to the yellow people.
Players awards went to the entire team with personalised calendars put together by Ma &Pa.
