SENIOR RESULTS
1st Grade – BYE
2nd Grade – BYE
3rd Grade – FGF Development Rovers v Port Douglas – Lost
JUNIOR RESULTS – TIER 3
Tier 3 – Super Global Service Rovers def Halpin Partners Rovers
In a Friday night 20/20 match against our fellow Tier 3 Rovers team, we won the toss and opted to bat first. Our batsmen showcased their skills, posting a commendable 1/136 after 20 overs. Standout performances came from Ian, who scored 40 off 40 balls, and Cody, who contributed 35 off 44 deliveries.
When it was our turn to bowl, Cooper, Matthew, Carter, and Jesse each claimed a wicket, but the opposition proved formidable with the bat, reaching 4/137 in the 17th over to clinch the victory. Special thanks to Ben, Jesse, and Carter for their invaluable contributions, as well as to Jarred and Mark for officiating the match. A big shoutout to our Coach Darren for his guidance and support.
This week’s awards go to Carter, Ian, and Cody for their outstanding performances on the field.
JUNIOR RESULTS – TIER 2
Tier 2 – Rovers Green v Cassowary Coast
After our first loss of the season last week the green machines were ready to take on Cassowary Coast on Saturday afternoon.
Winning the toss and electing to bat our openers got us off to a steady start both retiring at 25 balls faced. The heavens opened up and we had a quick rain delay which made the wicket and outfield hard going for our batters with not many boundaries being scored. Luca came in to entertain us with his 30 off 17 balls with 2 sixers and Evan hit a massive six over mid wicket finishing with 16 runs off 22 balls.
We were able to put on a total of 8/132.
After some sushi and fruit for afternoon tea by the Hodge family the boys were ready to take to the field.
Everyone bowled excellent and tight and didn’t give their big hitters a chance to score.
We fielded great and took our catches and we’re able to bowl them out in the 26th overs for a total of 108.
Pick of the bowlers were Brodie 3.2 overs, 1 maiden, 3 wickets for 8 runs. Travis 1 for 8 off 3 overs and Caleb 4 overs 1 for 9.
Shout out to Carter for taking yet another screamer of a catch at deep mid on.
Players of the match went to Brodie for his 3wickets for 8 runs, 1 run out and excellent running between the wickets.
Evan for his massive six, tight bowling and scoring 16 off 22.
Lucas for his tight bowling and filling in and Luca 30 runs off 17 balls.
Tier 2 – Rovers Red v Norths
Our captain for the day, Eli, won the toss and elected to bowl. A strategy that has served our side well and again proved to be a great decision with the lads in Green picking up their third win on the trot.
While norths made steady progress, they never really broke free from their shackles, eventually being bowled out for 99.
The Rovers boys were confident of chasing down the modest total, particularly with Sean returning to form at the top of the order. It seemed a win was inevitable. However, a few late wickets meant we were doing it the hard way with Hayden, “the finisher”, coming back in to win the match with one wicket to spare.
Rovers Red middle order is in great form at the moment and hopefully the side can continue with their winning streak next week in Atherton.
Players of the match went to Sean 15 (39) and 1/9, Cooper 5 (15) and 1/9 and Wil 3 (9) and 1/7.
Tier 2 – Rovers Gold v Norths Girls
In pursuit of extending our recent victory streak of one game, Rovers Gold commenced their batting innings. Lucas and Elijah began with promise, hinting at a continuation of last week’s form. However, our batting lineup encountered consistent setbacks, with Lucas contributing the highest score of 20 runs. Unfortunately, our final two batters were at the crease by the 19th over. Riley and Rocco posed a challenge for Norths Girls, with Rocco facing 50 balls and Riley 26, yet we only managed a subpar total of 88 runs.
Although the boys displayed early fielding prowess, securing early wickets, Norths Girls’ resilience resulted in them posting 6 for 103 before the game was halted. Elijah claimed figures of 2/14 off 3 overs, while Rocco achieved 2/7 off 3 overs, shining with the ball.
Commendations to the Rovers boys for their unwavering effort throughout the match, and both teams exhibited exemplary sportsmanship, which was delightful to witness.
The standout performances were recognised with Rocco, Elijah, and Lucas named Players of the Match.
JUNIOR RESULTS – TIER 1
Tier 1 – Rovers Red v Mulgrave
Tier 1. Rovers Redbacks 118 def Mulgrave 111.
Captain Ronin won the toss and decided to bat. Chad and Jacob opened the batting and ran excellently between the wickets – which set the tone for our whole innings. We lost a few wickets along the way but everyone chipped in evenly with Ronin’s 18 our top score. Whilst only a few wickets came our way with the ball, our fielding was excellent and we managed to restrict the toads to 111 leading to a satisfying win for the mighty green in a game played in great spirit against the south-siders.
Tier 1 – Rovers Green v BRCC White
Tier 1 Rovers Green 155 defeated Barron River White 77
Rovers Green bowled consistently to take regular wickets and restrict Barron White. Best bowling figures went to Josh with 2-4 and Blake 2-7. In reply the top order performed strongly to take control of the game early in the innings and the team was able to chase the runs comfortably. Top run scores were Liam, making 22, Toby 19, and Zac and Andrew both with 12.
Tier 1 – Rovers Gold v Norths
Tier 1 Gold 80 v Norths Blue 146 loss. Captain Cooper won the toss and we elected to bowl. Our bowlers struggled with line an length and extras top scored for the opposition. A sharp caught and bowled by Finn was the only standard out moment in the field. Finn 1/10 and Jake 1/17 the only wicket takers. Cooper and Cian started the batting innings solidly but a constant flow of wickets was the order of the day. Credit to the team though as they never gave up. Teddy showing true team spirit to continue batting after copping a vicious short ball to the ribs. Cooper 17, Jacob 15 and Finn 19 amongst the runs.
