PLAYER ACHIEVEMENTS

Congratulations Rovers player Kathleen Berry debuting for U13 in Bowen. Her attitude and confidence was so infectious. She showed ticker for her size. “Kitty” is our smallest player in the side but has the largest can do attitude. So cute! I hope she inspires more girls to give it a go.

Congratulations to Rovers players Henry King and Seth McGinty for making the U18 NQ CA team! This talented duo will be representing NQCA U18  April 2024. Well done, guys! Keep up the fantastic work, and best of luck in the upcoming competition.

SENIOR RESULTS

1st Grade – BYE

2nd Grade – BYE

3rd Grade – Comp finished for the year, next game 6 January 2024

JUNIOR RESULTS – TIER 1

Tier 1
Rovers Red v BRCC White
Tier 1: Rovers Redbacks 131 def Barron White 95.  Captain Lewis lost the bat flip and we were sent in.  All batsmen played well paving the wave for Riley (37) to finish with a string of boundaries and a first ever Redback 6!  Jacob got a wicket in the first over and Chad followed with another soon after and the boys were up and about. Debutant Dexter found a wicket too and not even some aggressive plovers could hold back the Redbacks charge.  It was a great outing to finish off the year with brothers Dexter and Chad getting our awards this week.

Tier 1
Rovers Green v Rovers Gold
The last game before Christmas saw Tier 1 Rovers Green take on Rovers Gold.  Rovers Green lost the bat flip and were sent into bat.  Rovers Green scored well to make 154 off their 20 overs but lost 10 wickets along the way.  The top scorers were Alex (33), Toby (31) and Mitch (26).  In reply, Rovers Green bowled tightly to keep Rovers Gold to 121 while taking 5 wickets.  When wickets and runs were tallied, Rovers Green took out a 13 run victory.  Well done to both teams, on some great cricket and positive sportsmanship.  Player awards went to Mitch and Cooper for filling in for us.

JUNIOR RESULTS – TIER 2

Tier 2
Rovers Gold v Cassowary Coast
Cassowary Coast batted first. Elijah was yet again able to make an early breakthrough. Unfortunately, after this moment our boys got to watch some very classy batting as the top order for Cassowary Coast piled on the pain. On the bright side we got to practise our ground fielding on the boundary rope a lot.
Our boys did really well and hung in there and once the middle to lower order were in, were able to get some really good wickets. Plenty of good catches and a great run out.

Eventually the retired batters came back in and continued piling on the runs. Thankfully Jesse took a cracking catch on the boundary rope to close out their innings with 9 balls still to go.
Chasing a massive target Rovers Gold did well to forget about the scoreboard and stick to their gameplan. Hayden and Cameron sticking out the opening partnership well, with Cameron retiring on 15.  Elijah played some brilliant shots, compiling a well made 14 runs and then Luca came in and made 33 runs including 2 very classy 6s off some slick bowling. Rocco batted well late finishing with 15 not out.
Luca and Cameron were our players of the day. A big thank you to Cameron, Jeet and Hayden for filling in.

Well done boys on such a great effort on sticking to the plan even though we were dominated early.
Have a great break and see you in the New Year.

JUNIOR RESULTS – TIER 3

Tier 3
Super Global Services Rovers  v Atherton

Super Global win v Atherton. After getting some greatly appreciated help from Sean, Thomas, Carter and Cody we fielded a strong team. Archie missed the toss and Atherton batted. A really solid start from our bowlers and supported by some brilliant fielding from Archie, Piggy and co, had us in a strong position and Travis, Michael and Carter kept the score down late in the innings. Best bowlers Trav 2/6 Piggy 2/17 and Michael 3 maidens 1/5. Atherton 8/166. Blake started like a fire cracka with 4 boundaries off over 1. Archie led the charge and we kept up the scoring rate with some good support from Will, Cody, Michael and Hugh. The game got tight but we played smart and got the win with 5 balls to spare. Best batting Archie and Michael. Best bowling Hodge bros and Michael and overall everyone in the field.

Tier 3
Halpin Partners Rovers  v BRCC U18
Win against Barron River
What an experience to play at  Cazalys for the boys.
We won the toss and decided to bat first. Being on a time limit it was set at 30 overs each, the boys made 8/135 with our top batters of the day Cody with 38 off 65 and Taj 27 off 33. Our fielding and bowling were tight we kept the top of the ladder team to 6/125 to win the game.  Our best bowling going to Taj and Cody with two wickets each. With every single team member making a great contribution to the team. Thanks to Ben, Carter and Thomas for helping us out. Thanks to Jarred and Dolf for umpiring and of course our coaches Darren and Mark and thanks to Andrew for coming down for the support. Our awards going this week to Ben, Ollie, Taj and Cody. We have had a first great half of the season, We wish everyone a wonderful Christmas and New Years and enjoy the holidays with your weekends off and can’t wait to see you all back in January.
