PLAYERS ACHIEVEMENTS

Good luck to Carter, Caleb and Brodie M, who are heading to Rockhampton this week to represent in the 13–14 years boys competition. This is a fantastic opportunity for them to test their skills, gain valuable experience and showcase the hard work they’ve been putting in all season.

We are incredibly proud to see our Rovers juniors stepping up to these competitions it’s a credit to their commitment, their families and their coaches.

Enjoy the week, lads, and play your best… the whole club is behind you!

ALL GRADE RESULTS

TWOMEY SCHRIBER PROPERTY GROUP 1ST GRADE

Rovers won the toss on a hot Saturday at Crathern Park.
The wicket looked dry and was expected to stay low in the second innings, making it an easy decision to bat first.

The innings started with intent, with Chaddy and Dayne both finding early boundaries before Dayne fell to an inswinger from David Coulthard that also apparently seamed away late. Chaddy continued to score freely while Marcus was happy to rotate the strike from the other end. When Chaddy was dismissed for a run-a-ball 40, Archie joined Marcus at the crease.

Not long after, Marcus hit what can only be described as the slowest ball of the 2025/26 season straight to cover. Archie and Henry then built a solid partnership of around 30 and had the innings well poised to attack the second half. Henry eventually fell for 20-odd, and from there Rovers were unable to find a steady partner for Archie as wickets fell consistently around him.

Despite the heat and oppressive conditions, Archie showed outstanding grit and maturity beyond his years, finishing 64 not out off 89 balls and guiding Rovers to 9/172 off 40 overs.

Rovers were up and about at the start of the defence, with both Kings bowling fast and creating plenty of chances. Unfortunately, by the time the first wicket fell the ball had stopped swinging. With the pitch holding up more than expected, David Coulthard and Adam Trewin took advantage of a tiring attack. Sauce gave Rovers a sniff by removing Coulthard and Andrew Phelps, but it was too little too late, with Barron chasing the total 3 down in 30 overs.

Plenty of positives to take from the performance as we look ahead to Mulgrave next week.

RED BERET 2ND GRADE

Rovers 208-8 defeated Atherton 118.

A terrific batting display set the mighty 2s up for a fantastic away trip victory in Atherton.

Batting first, pre match huddle we spoke about positive & putting pressure back on the fielders & we executed perfectly…DayneO (33) continued with his good form & Dev (20) got us off to an impressive start. Presty (29) & Archie (35) put on 59 to really set our innings up with Lock (17), Lucas (29), Joe (20) joining the party with solid contributions to elevate our total to 208.

As we took to the field, we started gingerly with a few chances not sticking, Watto (2-22) finally cracked the breakthrough to set us on a roll with Sauce (5-18) following to put our nose in front. Lock, Big X & Lukey bowled well with no reward. Tadgh & Ferg got the job done for the 2s to secure the 6 points.

A clear plan batting was backed up perfectly with the ball. Another great afternoon to be a Rover!

FGF DEVELOPMENTS 3RD GRADE

Rovers 115 def by Port Douglas 7-120.

We won the toss and elected to bat on a punishing afternooon on Endeavour 1.  We were in trouble early at 4-17, but ever green veteran Stratty stabilised our innings with a composed 32.  We batted out our overs and thought our total of 115 was better than it looked on paper given the lush outfield.

Wit took an early screamer but aside from Agi, our seamers were a little wayward and the Port Douglas batsman capitalised.

At 3-73 at drinks it looked bleak but our spin twins wit and mungus brought us into the game with inspired spells. With around 20 needed and 3 wickets in hand it looked like we may pull off a remarkable, backs to the wall victory, but it wasn’t meant to be.

A spirited effort from the green machine and a much improved effort against a team that beat us handsomely earlier in the year.

3RD GRADE BHUTANESE ROVERS

Bhutanese Rovers won by 124 runs.

HALPIN PARTNERS COLTS (CPL)

Won by 89 runs.

There was some big smiles when Capt Ian de Lange finally won the toss after sleeping with a coin under his pillow. Chasing scores for the whole season so far it was no surprise that he elected to bat.

Everyone chipped in with Capt Ian de Lange scoring 61 (72) Taj Walker 60* (105) to set Norths a target of 194 to win.

Having pace at one end and spin at the other for the first 20 overs seems to have Norths rattled and for the next 20 overs they were chasing 8 an over to win. Everyone including the four T3 boys filling in continued to contribute with the ball but in the end the spoils went to Blake Watson 5/12 off 7 Lucas Brierley 2/11 of 8 and Shivansh Pandey 2/9 of 3.

Catches went to Ian (3) Blake (2) and Travis Hodge and Lucas taking one each.

Thanks to Mark Peters for doing the canteen, Sanet de Lange for scoring and Paul Brierley for afternoon tea.

Special thanks to Hayden Bromell, Cooper Bromell, Hugh Ferguson and Travis Hodge for backing up. You did us all proud with your energy  in the field and your contributions with the ball.

Atherton next weekend and then we have a break to spend with family and friends.

TIER 3 U18 SUPER GLOBAL SERVICES ROVERS

Super Global Services Rovers 7 for 102 defeated by Barron River 9 for 203

This week delivered a top-of-the-table showdown: Barron River sitting at number 1, Super Global Services proudly at number 2, and the stage set for a heavyweight clash. Unfortunately, the Rovers took off… only to experience a crash landing shortly after.

We won the toss and batted on a difficult morning at Endeavour Park, where the pitch had all the generosity of a grumpy school principal. Barron bowled tight, disciplined lines and made runs harder to find than parking at the Cairns Esplanade. At drinks after 16 overs, we were crawling at 3 for 35.

The boys worked hard to bat time, but scoring opportunities were about as common as unicorns. Hugh (11) and Lucas (15) were the only players to reach double digits, while Riley (8 not out) and Elijah (7 not out) added some important late runs with a tidy partnership that at least added some shine to the back end of the innings. We finished on 7 for 102 off 35 overs.

Then came the change of innings… and apparently Barron had ordered a new pitch imported from who-knows-where, because suddenly the ball was coming onto the bat like a dream. And Barron’s top order, let’s just say they looked more like a men’s second grade team moonlighting in a junior comp.

They came out swinging, sending our bowlers to the boundary, over the boundary, and possibly into someone’s backyard. One of their openers reached 50 before the team score hit 56, and he kept the strike with such skill you’d swear he had the remote control for the scoreboard. They passed our total in the 15th over.

But here’s the impressive part: our boys hung in, kept fighting, and never quit. Eventually, through persistent effort and pressure, we bowled them out for 203.

A huge shout-out goes to Charlie, making his Tier 3 debut. He bowled out one of Barron’s opening batters and took 3 excellent catches. Lucas chipped in with 2 for 36, and Rocco took off the keeping pads at the drinks break to sneak in and grab his first Tier 3 wickets, finishing with a sharp 2 for 8.

Player Awards:
• Charlie – Dream debut, a wicket and three catches
• Lucas – Solid with the ball and led from the front

Despite Barron passing our score early, the boys showed character to finish the innings properly and stay committed until the final ball.

One more game before Christmas…
Let’s finish the year on a high and launch into 2026 with a bang!

TIER 3 U18 FNQ NATURE TOURS ROVERS

A nail biting contest that swung back and forth all morning with the men in Green claiming victory in the penultimate over.

Norths won the toss and elected to bat on a hard flat wicket and lightning fast outfield.

Despite Tommy and Jack taking a couple of early wickets, Norths were racing along at 2/50 after nine overs.

Cooper came on with some leg spin that would have turned the Queen Mary and snared a wicket while jamming the breaks on with figures of 1/6 from his three overs.

Our Tier 2 young guns then came on and continued to apply pressure with both Ashton and Finn picking up a wicket each while going for only two and four runs respectively from their two overs.

Norths however got their innings back on track to post a competitive score of 144.

Rovers innings got off to a shaky start and at one point were 2/10. When Eli joined Carter at the crease the score was 3/29 and an early finish seemed likely.

Carter has been consistent this year and continued his form throughout this match. Eli on the other hand had been playing catch up after breaking his wrist during the preseason and has been slowly building each week.

The next 10 overs or so saw Eli return to the form that saw him destroy bowling attacks last year which was a welcome sight for those barracking for the green machine.

By the time Carter (29 from 59) and Eli (43 from 45) were dismissed the game had swung back in our favour.

Tommy with the assistance of Jett and Kaden was able to finish the game off with an over to spare.

Awards went to Ashton and Finn for stepping up and helping out and Eli and Tommy for their part in getting us home. Jack also picked up an award for his part in the tie against Mareeba back in round two.

Many thanks to all of our parent helpers as well. I may not always get to thank you personally on the day but please know that your efforts are very much appreciated.

TIER 2 U 13 ZARRAFFAS ROVERS
Zarraffa’s Rovers 160 defeated Atherton 67

Rovers lost the toss and were sent into the field, but they certainly made the most of their opportunities. Tight, accurate bowling kept Atherton on the back foot from ball one. After some early resistance, wickets soon flowed, and we had Atherton all out for 67 in the 18th over.  Andrew (3/5), Neil (2/6), Alex (1/8) and Toby (1/2) were the wicket takers.

The run chase was never in doubt, with Alex M (19) and Joe (16) putting on 35 for the first wicket to set the platform. Handy contributions from Neil (33), Andrew (24), Toby (20) and Oliver (19*) ensured the Rovers kept the scoreboard ticking over on the way to a convincing win.

Award winners were Andrew and Neil for delivering strong contributions with both bat and ball.

TIER 2 U 13 WGC ROVERS
WGC Rovers 125 v Norths Omega 4/160.

Winning the toss we went in to bat in the top of the table clash with Norths. Our top 4 failed to fire for the first time this season and the boys were reeling at 4/30. Riley 29 from 30 balls and Isaak 19 from 33 balls came to the crease under all sorts of pressure and began to build an innings to give some respectability to the total. Ryan 22 from 28 balls also showed grit and determination and we managed to post a respectable 125 all out.

Whilst we were always in with a chance Norths were able to pass our total with a few overs to spare. Charlie 1/14, Isaak 1/19 and Aadit 1/8 were the best of the bowlers. It was awesome to see the boys show resilience  and compete until the end.

Players of the match went to Riley and Isaak for digging in with the bat and Aadit for his magic spell of leg spin bowling.

TIER 1 U11 AGL PAINTING ROVERS GREEN

AGL Rovers Green 162 def Norths 87.

Batting first, our innings consisted of the best team effort so far with the sharing of the runs. Josh (20) and Luca (17) started us off well with Ollie (14) and Roly (26) keeping the momentum going. Danura and Henry contributed 11 apiece, while Hendrix, Kieran and Emmett provided 9 each.

The boys were tight with the ball, wickets to Josh, Luca, Ollie and Kieran.

Awards went to Luca, Kieran and Hendrix.

TIER 1 U11 ROVERS ARCHERS BODY CORPORATE

Rovers ABC V Barron Blue.

We lost the toss and were sent into bat on a lush Evergreen Park.
Johno and Aaron got us off to a solid start protecting their wickets followed by the two Coopers who decided a lush outfield didn’t matter if you cleared the rope , Cooper L ending up with 29 off 12
Bria, Kitty and Oscar also protected their wicket and Brad and Ben brought us home strong scoring 17 and 18 .

When it was our turn to bowl the Barron team had also decided to go the Ariel route to avoid the thick grass and were scoring at a rate of noughts until Bria grabbed the ball picking up 2/3, Cooper L also with 2/6 out fielding was also on song with Ben talking 2 catches, Cooper L, Teddy and Oscar one each.

At the end of the day it was a very entertaining game of cricket with both teams playing well.
Scores are not confirmed as yet but Play Cricket reports we won 178 to 172.

Awards went to Cooper H, Bria and Ben.

TIER 1 U11 CNW ELECTRICAL ROVERS

Rovers Renegades 153 v Barron  122

Captain Bronte lost the toss on a steamy Endeavour morning and we were sent in to bat. Bronte (11) and Xander (15) opened with a bright, mistake free partnership. Our middle order played solidly as we built a nice total.  The Renegades’ version of gout-gout, aka Shenuka, then set the game alight with some electric running between the wickets. He (26) and Jacob (40) accelerated our scoring rate and we hit the sheds with a nice total on the board.

When it was our turn to bowl we toiled away well in the heat with all bowlers keeping it tight.  Hudson and Jacob were our wicket-takers whilst Bronte and Campbell did a fantastic job wicket keeping.

Our award winners were Shenuka and Jacob.

Next week we say goodbye to fan favourite Morgun in his last outing for the mighty green before he moves to the Sunshine Coast.
