JUNIOR RESULTS – ROUND 7

TIER 3 – Halpin Partners Rovers (5-108) V Norths (6-63)

We put Norths into bat after winning the toss under the ever-threatening rainclouds.

With some great bowling from Lucas Brierley 3/8 off 2 overs, wickets from Hayden 1/2 off 2, Cody 1/17 off 3 and Liam1/5 off1, supported by tight bowling by the rest of the team, with the innings limited to 18 overs by rain, Norths scored 63 runs.

The Chase for 64 runs was on at a required run rate of 3.5.

We reached our target in the 11th over with great batting contributions from Taj 23 of 22 and Lucas 29 of 17.

Awards went to Lucas, Taj and Ben (great keeping).

Special thanks to Sanet for scoring, Bernard for umpiring and to Evan and Arun for a great morning tea.

TIER 3 – Super Global Services Rovers (8/97) V Barron (7/129)

Tier 3 Rovers SGS 8/97 v Barron 7/129. With the rain playing havoc, it was decided to play a T20 game. Winning the toss Rovers elected to field first and fielded quite well considering the wet and slippery conditions and had Barron on the ropes at 5/80, but some wayward bowling towards the end of the innings was costly and the opposition took full advantage. The highlight of the innings was Shiivys outfield catch and Locky almost getting a hatrick. Bikrem 2/7, Blake 2/10 and Locky 2/15 were the best of the bowlers.

We once again started the batting innings with early wickets, making it hard to get any momentum. Luca was patient early and reaped the rewards, posting a very mature 37 runs of 52 balls. Thomas 19 runs off 22 balls played  a great support role, but overs ran out, and we fell short. The boys are yet to click as a team, but the potential is there, and a win is just around the corner.

TIER 2 – Rovers Red (7/181) V Barron (5/200)

The cloudy conditions brought a welcome change from the oppressive Saturday afternoon scorchers we’ve come to expect over the past few weeks, however the boys in Green were not able to make the most of the cooler conditions.

After losing the toss and being sent in, despite losing regular wickets, Rovers were able to post a very competitive 181 thanks to Travis’ 50* (39), Eli 31* (42), Oscar 26* (43) and a quick fire 19 (14) from Wil.

Barron’s run chase was very disciplined, scoring at a run a ball while giving away barely a chance at all.

It was the 19th over before Rovers took a wicket and by then the batting side only needed 30 runs off the last 10 overs. A flurry of wickets then did start to fall led by leg spinner Cooper 2/14 and supported by Riley 1/9 and Travis 1/11 but was too little too late and left the Rovers Red lads wondering what could have been.

Barron eventually running the total down comfortably with 3 overs to spare.

Players of the match were Travis, Cooper and Jake

TIER 2 – Rovers Green (7/164) V Cassowary Coast (63)

Rovers Green won the toss and elected to send the opposition in.  This paid immediate dividends with opening bowlers Joash (2/9) and Toby (1/9) quickly having the visiting team in trouble.  Tight bowling and good fielding saw wickets continue to fall and subsequently the opposition were bowled out in the 17th over for 63.

In reply Rovers Green put in there best batting performance for the season with Kai, Alex, Carter and Caleb all retiring.  Carter (51 no) and Caleb (48 no) going on to make big scores.
Player awards went to Kai and Toby.

TIER 2 – Rovers Gold (7/198) V Atherton White (7/120)

This week, the Rovers boys delivered their best all-around team performance of the season!

After losing the toss and being sent in to bowl, the team immediately applied pressure, restricting Atherton’s run scoring from the start. A remarkable effort saw 7 different bowlers each claim a wicket, highlighting the depth of our attack. Most impressively, the boys improved their discipline significantly, conceding 24 fewer wides than last week, despite the blustery Saturday afternoon conditions. Atherton finished their innings at 7/120 after 30 overs.

The batting display was equally impressive, with 6 players reaching double figures and 3 retiring. Hughie and Rocco got us off to a fantastic start, with Hughie compiling a superb 71* and Rocco contributing an excellent 29*. Supporting contributions came from Elijah (19*), Finn (19), Darcy (11), and Ned (10), all of whom batted with intent and composure.

Player awards:

Riley: Outstanding bowling figures of 1/2 from 3 overs.
Elijah: Safe hands with a catch and an unbeaten 19* with the bat.
Hughie: A stellar all-round performance with 1/15 off 4 overs, a sensational catch at slip, and a masterful 71* with the bat.

Well done, boys! It was a brilliant team effort, and every player contributed to an impressive victory. Keep up the great work!

TIER 1 – Rovers Gold (129)V Barron White (125)

Gold lost the toss and were sent in to bat on a damp wicket in overcast conditions. Runs were hard to come by early in the innings but a fighting knock from Cooper H (17) kept us in the game until drinks. The sky cleared after first break with Brad (26) and Isaak (30) giving us some runs to defend.

Barron started steady and looked on track to chase us down but Gold managed a stream of wickets to keep things close. Outstanding bowling from Brianna, Isaak and Cooper L ensured this would be yet another tight finish. Johno was entrusted to bowl the last over and deliver he did picking up 4 dots and a wicket to enable another close victory with some superb back up from everyone in the field.

Award winners Cooper H and Isaak for fantastic all round performances.

TIER 1 – Rovers Green V Barron Blue
TIER 1 – Rovers Red  (197) V Norths (127)

Captain Damandeep won the bat flip and sent norths in on a wet-ish pitch. A fantastic catch by Aadit was one of 6 wickets we took. Dexter was particularly on song snaring 2-10 and being on a hatrick at one stage.

The clouds cleared as we started our innings and openers Jackson and Bronte (21) got us off to a rollicking start with 18 off the first over! The boundaries flowed constantly from there as our middle order of Morgun (17), Ryan (24), Damandeep 23), Dexter (17) and Aadit (34) all batted and ran between the wickets really well.

It was a great all round team performance from the mighty Redbacks with our young guns Dexter and Damandeep getting the coaches awards this week.

We head into our Friday night game under lights next week full of confidence and team comradery

SENIOR RESULTS

1st Grade – Twomey Schriber Rovers (101) V Norths (154)
2nd Grade – Red Beret Hotel Rovers (4/203) V Norths (136)

We were sent in on a pitch offering some assistance for the bowlers but our openers Kael and Dayne put on a quick fire 39 to set a positive tone for our batting innings.  After some recent wobbles, it was a mature response from our top order with all batsman getting starts.  An unbroken 85 run partnership from Chaddy (38 no) and Joel Sykes (30 no) saw us sneak past 200 in a commanding batting display.

We knew early wickets would make the chase tough for our opponents and both Ian De Lange and skipper Sauce obliged.  The handsome Englishman finishing with a miserly 2-18 off 8 overs.  Then our spin twins went to work and strangled the middle order – Joel Sykes throwing down hand-grenades with 2-10 and Chaddy 3-25.

Presty delivered the last rites to norths with an unplayable delivery to their no. 11 and a comfortable victory for the mighty 2s had been secured

3rd Grade – FGF Rovers (4-197) V Norths  (3/195)

The game of the season! We loss the toss and were sent to bowl, wickets weren’t coming easy and Norths were putting on the runs, we had some lost catches in the field which just encouraged the batters in the end both our Hodge boys and Marty getting our wickets with our wicket keeper Pete catching 2 of them to make Norths 3/195 after 35 overs. It was going to be a big ask to run down that score. Ben had us off to the perfect start with 49 off 37 and Big  Hodgie and Marty helping with the runs Marty hitting two big 6’s in a row and nearly taking out a car in the carpark brought a bit of excitement to the game but with patience and confidence Pete and Coop brought us home for the win with an over to spare Pete 55 off 67 not out and Coop 29 off 36 not out.

Thanks to our tier 3 boys for helping out Lochie, Blake and Matty and Brodie North making his debut to seniors with some great bowling. Coop getting player of the day for some good batting and keeping his composure. The boys showed there Rovers spirit and there awesome team work to get us the back to the winning table.

3rd Grade – Bhutanese Rovers (60) V Muddie (3/61)
